Kunal Shamshere Malla is a Doon-based actor, director, producer, singer, educationist, martial arts expert, car enthusiast, and the list goes on. Born in Mumbai and brought up in Dehradun, Kunal is a gentleman with multifarious talents. He completed his schooling in 1991 from St. Josephs Academy, followed by Bachelor in Commerce from H.N.B. Garhwal University in 1994. He then pursued Business Administration from Tata Tea Limited, Calcutta in 1996, and started his professional career as an English teacher before completing his education. Kunal has worked as an Assistant Manager at the Tata Tea Limited, Assam for nearly four years. In 1999, he determined to chase his long-due dream and started his playschool Olympus High, which is at present a reputed educational institution up to 12th standard. Apart from being the Chairman of Olympus High, Kunal is also a member of the Uttarakhand State Audit Board and a patron of the state's Roller Skating Association. Kunal is an avid actor and began his acting career by debuting at the age of 40 during the shooting of Marukh Mirza’s 2011 movie Say Yes To Love, which was shot in Olympus High. He played the role of a principal and realized that he was good at acting and should act more. Following his first cameo, it was no looking back for Kunal. He then acted in Maazii in 2013, playing the role of a police cop and sharing the screen with noted Bollywood actor Pankaj Tripathi. Kunal made it to the big screen by appearing in the 2015 Bollywood film Dum Laga Ke Haisha, which starred Ayushmann Khurrana and Bhumi Pednekar. He has also directed numerous mythological, social, and historical plays, such as Akbar, Footloose, Jungle Book, and Kabuliwala. Kunal has co-starred with renowned actor Victor Banerjee in the Hollywood film Dev Bhoomi directed by Serbian director Goran Paskeljevic. In 2017, he acted in another Hollywood movie titled Where Are We Now and played protagonist Kiran Dubey's brother. Kunal has made a series of award-winning short films such as Shwet Rakht, ____. He co-produced a horror-thriller movie with Viral Entertainment titled 1978 - A Teen Night Out, which was released in 2019 and garnered much appraises from the audience. Kunal has a passion for singing and has released his music album titled Har Pal back in 2015. He loves covering retro Bollywood songs, and among his favorite singers are Mohd Rafi and Kishore Kumar. Being a black belt in Martial Arts is among many talents that Kunal possesses. Amid his super busy schedule, he makes sure to work out and practice martial arts.
